The underlying theme of my artwork is predominantly an interest in transportation, being in a family of geographers has developed this interest and expanded it through explorations around the world.

Urban Calamari is a documentary record of artworks, sculpture and automation that I have produced from my early scribbles in 1971 to the present 2011.

My current works are predominately simple coil forms fired in primitive raku and pit kilns. This approach of minimal construction and decoration is both an aesthetic preference and a structural one. The archaeological appearance of the pit fired work and unpredictable lustres of the raku are examples of a simple elegance. The asymmetrical potential of the almost childlike coil pot a preference to the symmetry of the wheel.
